This dynamic learning community where children feel valued, engaged and nurtured, where staff provide exemplary teaching and consistent care for students, where parents are acknowledged as powerful partners. Our school has mainstream classes from Preschool to Year 6. Our school hosts the Southside Primary Introductory English Centre - we continually welcome families who newly arrive in Canberra from all over the world. Needless to say, the high multicultural presence in our school demonstrates the wide world around us and we thrive in an inclusive environment.
Our school has a Learning Support Unit-Autism – for those students living with Autism. We proudly to lead by example to encourage our students to value diversity, promote healthy relationships and lead with confidence.

Vision Statement
Hughes Primary School is currently implementing the Australian Curriculum. Staff have undertaken a series of Professional Development over the past two years to ensure that the Australian Curriculum is implemented an taught using a differentiated and integrated approach to learning and teaching.

Schools Plans and Reports
Each term teachers provide term overviews to explain the program for the coming term. In term one the school holds a Parent Information Evening to present the overview for the term with reference to ongoing programs. Parents are welcome to discuss the term's planned work with the teachers.
